Installing CodeProof
Codeproof requires a free account. You can go to Codeproof.com and sign up for your account. After your account is setup, you can download the the mobile app (iPhone or Android or Kindle Fire ) from their site or go to the respective app store for the mobile download.
Once the download and installation is all done you will need to log in using your account information on your Android. Shortly after you login, the mobile device will be recognized by the web service.
Using CodeProof
Codeproof has 2 parts. The mobile app is where you will scan for malware and viruses. On the Android app, you have 3 different scan options; Scan the SD card, Scan the installed apps or Full Scan.
The second part of the equation is the web app. From the web, you can do quite a few cool things. You can:
Turn on a siren to locate the device. Wipe the phone information. Lock the screen. Locate the device on Google Maps.
So far that all sounds great, but you can get that with other apps. Where Codeproof is more like an enterprise app is the administrator type features. To use most of the admin features below, you will need to make Codeproof a device admin. You can turn this feature on in the Location and security tab in the main settings menu. Some of those features are:
Enable/Disable Camera. Encryption Push Notifications to send a message to the phone and displayed on the screen. Install an application. Send the phone an APK (Android) Policy management.
Most of those features are pretty self explanatory, however the Policy Management might need a little explanation. In the cloud app, you can monitor more than one device (paid account). A policy is basically a template of features or rules for the phones. If you are using Codeproof for your business, you can link all if the phones to one account. From one cloud-based account, you can set lock times for the screen, make it mandatory for the user to have a password (not pattern) or even enable encryption on the device. The iOS devices give the admin a lot more choices to toggle on and off for the end user.
Media content ratings (e.g. PG or PG-13). Enable/Disable access to Youtube. Enable/Disable access to the iTunes store. Enable/Disable Safari or Safari features. Enable/Disable Siri. Enable/Disable video conferencing. Much more.

Final thoughts
While there are more features than the average person might need, the fact of the matter is Codeproof packs a lot of useful features into a free app. Even for the cost of a few dollars a month, Codeproof is a great solution for a small business without a dedicated IT department.
