This round, black and silver smart watch features a silicone strap and copper casing. Best of all, it can serve as both a watch and a mobile phone thanks to a built-in SIM card slot. There is even room for an SD card if you need more space.

What’s in the Box

Before getting into its features, let’s take a quick look at what you get inside the box.

The LEMFO smart watch comes with a 4-pin charger. It attaches magnetically to the bottom of the watch; the other end goes into a standard USB charging port.

There’s also a small user manual which explains the basics of the watch such as operating it and inserting the nano SIM card. Speaking of which, you’ll need to provide your own nano SIM card.

Features of the LEMFO Smart Watch

When you first turn on the LEMFO smart watch, there’s a boot-up animation that is around fifteen to twenty seconds long. It seems even longer when you’re waiting, but it is also nice to look at. Plus, it gives you a quick look at the graphics quality of the watch.

From there you’ll see the actual face of the watch which is vibrant and very easy to read. It was really refreshing to see the variety of faces for the watch – I just wish they weren’t all so masculine. I could see myself sporting half of the faces but it would be nice to have a few that are more feminine. Regardless, each face does stand out on its own in the growing world of smart watches.

Notifications can be accessed from the watch face by swiping down. Also, when swiping up, you’ll see important information like the battery level and day of the week; there are even a few quick toggles for turning Bluetooth, WiFi, and power-saving mode on/off as well as changing the brightness level. All menu options can be accessed by swiping left or right on the watch face. Going through them, you’ll see:

Dialing for making calls from the watch (not via your mobile phone) Contacts which are pulled from your Google account (once you sign in) SMS for sending text messages from the phone (not via your mobile phone) Health for measuring your heart rate Sport for counting your steps Apps for accessing included apps (like alarms, browser, music, weather, Google), as well as adding more via the watch’s own AppStore and Google Play Settings for handling things like WiFi, date & time, display, power saving, uninstalling apps, etc.

To go into any menu or options, you simply tap the screen. You can then navigate through various windows by scrolling up and down. You can also go back to the previous screen by swiping from the left edge to the right. Navigating the watch is very easy and much like a smartphone, so it’s easy to get the hang of it. The LEMFO smart watch includes all of the basic features you’d expect in a smart watch and even a few extra such as two different app stores, the ability to add your own wallpaper to the watch face, and a “clean all” feature to close all open apps at once. Other notable features include GPS, barometer, voice search, sound recorder, calendar, and support for twenty different languages.

A Few Hiccups

While I have enjoyed the LEMFO smart watch thus far, I’m not keen on the fact that you need a nano SIM card in order to take advantage of its most useful features: making/receiving phone calls and sending/receiving text messages. Also, when it comes to battery life, it dies quickly if you’re constantly using it (after four to five hours). If you wear it to work, though, it’s sure to last the entire day since you’re likely to only use it here and there. Otherwise, you’ll want to be sure to have the charger with you when on the go.

Speaking of charging, you also can’t use the watch while it’s charging; you’ll have to wait until it’s done or disconnect the charger in order to do anything.

Typing is also a bit awkward on the tiny screen and takes some getting used to. It has the stock Android keyboard, but you don’t get any advanced features like word prediction, so this makes typing even more time consuming. The little keyboard sure is cute, though!

Wrapping Things Up

The LEMFO smart watch is functional, affordable, and stylish. It’s definitely proof that you don’t have to break the bank to get a decent smart watch. It’s especially useful for those who play sports, exercise regularly or anyone else who does a lot with their hands and doesn’t want to be tied down by a smartphone.
