Features of MediaMonkey

Multiple Media Collections: If you are a media frenzy person with a large media library consisting of music and videos files, you can easily create multiple media collections with their own custom settings using MediaMonkey. This eliminates the need for manually creating different playlists for different purposes. Media Organizer: MediaMonkey features several tools like Tag Editor, Auto Tagger, Track Identifier, Automatic Library Updater, etc., to optimally organize all your media. Along with all these advanced options, it even features Automatic Organizer which sorts all your media by renaming it with the predefined rules set by you. Moreover, you can also look up and download artwork and lyrics over the Internet for your media. Volume Normalizing: As you know, volume rates will be different for different file formats and bit rates. In those situations, MediaMonkey automatically adjusts the volume for consistent sound so that you won’t be annoyed by media that is too loud or too silent. Support for Sharing Over Mobile and UPnP / DLNA Devices: When using MediaMonkey, you can easily sync and share your audio or video files with other mobile devices like Android, iPhone, and iPad. You can also share your media with TV and other compatible UPnP / DLNA* devices. Sleep Timer: When using the Sleep Timer feature, MediaMonkey will gradually fade out the music in a set time and then shut down your computer. Personally, this is one of my favorite features as I have a habit of listening to music before going to sleep. Rip, Burn, and Convert: Along with organizing and enjoying music, you can also use MediaMonkey to record CDs onto your hard drive and can burn them onto a CD/DVD using the built-in disk burning utility. MediaMonkey can also convert your media from one format to any other compatible format of your choice.

Installation and User Interface

MediaMonkey is available both in free and gold versions where the free version is a little bit limited when it comes to media management. You can easily download MediaMonkey from its official website, and once downloaded, the installation is just a breeze. While installing, you will be given an option to install MediaMonkey in portable mode so you can carry MediaMonkey with you. After the installation, you can easily integrate your music collection using the displayed startup wizard. The default user interface of MediaMonkey may be a bit intimidating, but you can actually customize every part of it with just a few clicks. If you ever need to manually add files to the library, simply navigate to “File” on the top bar and then select the option “Add or Scan Files to the Library.” If you are like me, constantly adding new files to the media folder, then don’t forget to select one of the two options – “Scan Continuously” or “Scan at Startup” – so that MediaMonkey will automatically add the files to the library. As you can see from the image below, right-clicking on any media file will give you a ton of options like ratings, auto-tagging, file properties, auto-organising, etc. While you are sharing your media with other UPnP / DLNA* devices, MediaMonkey can help you convert the files on the fly for seamless streaming and sharing.

Conclusion

Even though MediaMonkey isn’t a fancy music player, we can go on and on discussing the features provided, and the music lovers will surely love it for its uncompromising media organizing and search capabilities. Since MediaMonkey is also available as a free version with all the basic media management features, do give it a try. Of course, if you are a serious music lover and want to quickly organize all your media files, then spending a few bucks for a Gold version is definitely worth it. MediaMonkey
