The great thing about jailbreaking your iOS device is, no matter what kind of changes Apple implements with new software updates, you can always revert to certain states, or reinstate specific elements with relative ease. I know that a lot of you out there were relieved when Apple did away with the unlocking “click”, but if you enjoyed it enough to have made note of its absence, then you should check out UnlockSound7.
UnlockSound7 is a jailbreak tweak created by developer merdok. The tweak is available for free in the BigBoss repository. There are no configurable settings, so if you no longer require or don’t like the sound, you can simply uninstall the package via Cydia.
You can also place custom unlock sounds in “/var/mobile/unlock.caf” and customize the unlock sound to your liking. Doing so will let you hear something that you like or prefer while unlocking your iOS device. To install the tweak, tap on the Cydia icon on your device’s home screen and launch the Cydia app store. Jump to search section and search for “UnlockSound7”. Once found, tap to install it.
With this tweak, there will be certain pre-iOS 7 elements you may enjoy with your iOS device. I, however, found this particular sound to be a little outdated. It didn’t match the clarity, the beauty and simplicity of iOS 7. With a custom sound, you may just have the perfect unlock sound for your iOS device.
