Our Opinion
Mahesh is looking at the mistakes from last year and figures they will figure prominently next year. He’s looking at what happened with the Samsung Note 7 and how it ended up being a huge bust after they were catching on fire. He figures, “This year didn’t go well for Samsung Note phones, and people are looking forward to next year’s phone. So it’ll be a Note 7 or Note 8 – whatever Samsung is going to call it.”
Robert and Christopher both feel the next big thing is going to be the Nintendo Switch. Robert predicts the company will “learn from their biggest ever cock-up in the Wii U and launch a console that truly reminds us what game consoles should be all about.” Christopher thinks, “If even half the rumors I’ve heard about it are true, it’s going to be Nintendo’s next big comeback.” He can also see a lot of people buying it after seeing the trailer. Derrik is looking ahead to the Google Daydream, a virtual reality platform for Android Nougat. He believes it will be “a lot more accessible than other VR gadgets.” Jeffry and I both had the same thought in thinking it will come down to the iPhone 8. He figures “Apple will go big on this edition both in design and features as this one also marks the 10th anniversary of iPhone. I think the same. There was such a big deal made out of Apple not making many changes to the iPhone 7, and many believe it’s because the 8 is going to be a huge upgrade. In fact, I’m banking on it. I may have just bought my 7, but I went ahead and agreed to pay an extra $5 a month so that when the first year is up I can opt in and get the 8.
